Assign Codes to Segments

- In order
to be able to assign codes to segments, you must have previously
created them by using the command Tools
> Define Codes. These two commands are to be used
together in conjunction with the command Distractors
> Individual Distractors. The attribution of codes
to segments is visible in both the horizontal view and the vertical
view.
-
In the integrated
editor of Zigzag Generator, select the textual segment
to which the code should be attached (the segment will change
color):
- Select
the menu Tools > Assign Codes to Segments (or click
on the
button
on the toolbar). The window called Assign Codes to Segments
will appear.

- On the
left-hand side of the window are the Available Codes
not yet assigned to the segments selected in the integrated
editor of Zigzag Generator. To assign an available code,
you have two choices:
- Double-click
on the code to be assigned.
- Select
the code to be assigned and click on the right-pointing
arrow.
In both
cases, the selected code is transferred to the right-hand
side of the window. You will se the code now under the Assigned
Codes column.

-
In
multi-selection mode, a code can be assigned to many
segments at a time. To access the multi-selection mode, click
on the Ctrl key while using the mouse to select the
desired segments; the segments will change to be red in color.

-
In the Assign Codes to Segments window, select the
desired code (here: Firs) and click on the right-pointing
arrow (or double-click on the code). The code will then be
assigned to multiple segments at once:
