Distractors
> Random Distribution of Targets

- Use this
command at the very end of the test generation. This command
will have the effect of randomly determining the position of
the textual segment, in each column of the Zigzag Test
matrix. Random distribution of the target-segment is in effect
a sine qua non condition in order for a Zigzag test to be valid
(cf. Note 1). The window called
Random Distribution of Targets will appear.

-
You have
the choice between two options:
- If
the first option is selected, random distribution will be
limited to the current target-segment or to multi-selected
segments at the time (cf. Note 2).
- If
the second option is selected, random distribution will
apply to the whole text.
- Click
on OK.
- Save your
changes in one of the following three manners:
- Click
on the Save button
.
- Select
the command File > Save Zigzag Project.
- Use
the shortcut Ctrl+S.
Note 1. The Zigzag Generator
will remind you, if necessary, of the importance of using
the random distribution command. The warning concerning random
distribution of target may occur when the module Integrated
Test is used: menu Tools > Integrated Test (or
the button).
A window called Random Distribution of Targets will
appear saying "The target-segments have not yet been
randomly distributed. Would you like to do this now?"
After checking the box "Do not ask this question again
during the editing of this project." (to avoid all
further reminders), click on Yes.
Note
2.
In the vertical view, you can simultaneously select many textual
segments in the integrated editor of Zigzag Generator (multi-selection
mode). To do so, hold down the Ctrl key while selecting
the textual segments of interest. These will change to red
(and not dark blue as is the case for singly-selected segments):
When you
are in multi-selection mode, random generation of segments is
applicable only to the selected segments (and not to the segments
of the full text).
